PITTSFORD, N.Y. — Task number one for any new Bills wide receiver: develop chemistry with Josh Allen.

“We’ve had time outside before camp, got together with a group of guys and just went out there and threw the ball around, but it’s just really about building that relationship with each other,” said Bills wide receiver Curtis Samuel.

Similar personalities are helping that process between Allen and new target Curtis Samuel.

“It’s not too serious with us all the time, that guy, he makes a lot of jokes and I make jokes as well so it’s like we’ve got a comfortable relationship with each other, you know, have fun,” Samuel said.

That relationship has helped Samuel progress nicely at training camp, where the Bills have used Samuel’s speed and background as a college running back to move him all around.

“It’s fun, anytime I can get the ball in my hands, I’m excited,” Samuel said. “That’s why I don’t limit myself to just playing outside, you know, whatever the case may be. Inside, outside, in the backfield, I don’t limit myself.”

A major part of Samuel coming to Buffalo was the chance to re-unite with offensive coordinator Joe Brady. Brady led the offense in Carolina when Samuel had the best year statistically of his career. That understanding between the two is on display again, this time with the Bills.

“It’s just a trust thing,” Samuel said. “Me and Joe have been together before, and if you see how he used me there, you’ve kind of got an idea… I put all my trust in him to put me in the right spots, in the right position to succeed in this offense.”

And whether it’s himself or other members of the Bills new look receiver group, Samuel has confidence in position room as a whole to contribute to a successful passing attack this season.

“It’s just about a lot of guys, everybody coming together, everybody doing their job going out there to make things happen,” Samuel said. “I like the guys in our room. I mean, I feel like everyone complements each other so well. I feel like everyone has a skill set that we use to the best of our ability, and we’re going to make things happen. You can’t key on (anybody). We’re going to go out there and play ball.”
