BUFFALO, N.Y. — There's a big playoff watch party at 716 Saturday after the Sabres play at 1 p.m. Plenty of other places are hosting them too.
And a lot of people are partying at home. So on Friday, 2 On Your Side checked in with Wegmans and Tops to see what's on the menu.
"I had a guy this morning wanted me to come to his house and cater. I said, 'I wish I could, but I'm going to be here helping our customers out,' but I gave him some advice and a couple of items to get," Fred Torrell said.
Torrell is an executive chef at Wegmans He is ready for the rush of Bills fans. He also knows where he'll be Saturday afternoon.
"I am going to be working. My phone will be beeping with updates. I'll hopefully get home eventually. I know they're going to win, it's just a matter by how much," he says.
Torrell says that the top five foods Wegmans is selling for Saturday are: pizza, chili buckets, chips, salsa and subs.
"We're going to sell a ton of subs, so customers can grab and go subs or they can have them delivered," he says.
At Tops, the top five foods are fried chicken, chicken wings, pizza, game day to-go combos, either wings and pizza or subs and cookies and pop, and rye bread and dip.
If you plan on going out to watch the game, a lot of bars are doing specials, including Big Ditch.
"We have five-dollar Hay Burners and Make Me Wanna Stout. Hayburner's is our most popular beer. Make Me Wanna Stout is sort of our pregame, football beer, it's like a low ABV coffee stout. It's almost like a wake-up-and-drink stout," Big Ditch president and co-founder Matt Kahn said.
Big Ditch opens at noon. The specials start around 4 p.m.
"So, we have the Buffalo Playoff Fries, which is hand-cut fries, celery, carrots, blue cheese and fried chicken. And then we also have the Houston-inspired shrimp and grits. Cheddar grits, shrimp, bacon, and green onion," Kahn said.
But if you're staying a home, you don't want a food emergency, so Torrell says get more than you think you need.
“Chicken fingers, pizza logs, grab some of those just to have as a backup plan, you can throw them in the oven, warm them up. That way if you run out of subs, or pizza, or chili, you've got a backup plan, and if you don't eat them, they're really good on Sunday, so you'll be set," he says.
