ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills (4-3) are now in the midst of a stretch where they've dropped two of their last three games and are trying to correct some very significant issues.   From a sputtering offense to overcoming serious injuries on the defensive side.   All on a short week as they get set to host Tampa Bay on Thursday night.

Head coach Sean McDermott was sure to point out the Bills track record of successfully dealing with situations like this.

"Over the years we've shown... that we know how to win.  We know how to figure things out and we know how to develop players and find the answer and the solutions.  That's what we're here for."

Buffalo is coming off a 29-25 loss to the previously 1-5 New England Patriots on Sunday.  The offense once again sputtered early and struggled to deal with the pressure the Patriots were able to create on Josh Allen.   The defense was without DT Ed Oliver (toe) along with DT DaQuan Jones, LB Matt Milano, and CB Tre'Davious White all of whom suffered serious injuries in weeks prior.   New England was able to run the ball successfully enough to allow quarterback Mac Jones opportunities in the passing game.   The Patriots drove 75 yards in the final two minutes to score the go-ahead touchdown.

Sean McDermott says that despite the obvious physical challenges of playing two games in five days, there is opportunity in being forced to move on quickly from Sunday's loss.

"I think that's how you approach it.  The first 24 hours are tough going into a short week because you're short on rest.  But at the end of the day, it's how you approach it.  It's a mental challenge.  You've got to look at it like this is a great opportunity for us.  We approach it with great energy."

McDermott confirmed that TE Dawson Knox will have wrist surgery.  He did not offer a timetable for his recovery.  McDermott says Knox didn't injury his wrist further during the course of the game Sunday, but that the discomfort is impacting his performance.

As for defensive tackle Ed Oliver (toe), McDermott said they would know more on his status after evaluating him during Wednesday's practice.
