New face in Bills WR room, familiar with Joe Brady

After previously working together in Carolina, the Bills wide receiver signing has plenty of familiarity with Buffalo's new offensive coordinator.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Curtis Samuel’s objective is simple.

"Just show them why they brought you here," Samuel said. "Just do the things that they brought you here to do. Be excited and just have fun.”

Samuel was one of the first faces the Bills brought in this offseason, as the wide receiver room is going through a makeover.

Samuel is new to this team, but not new to new offensive coordinator Joe Brady.

"When I was with him Carolina, there were certain things that he hadn’t done prior to that. We had an injury to our running back position and we were like ‘Curtis can do this,’ or hey, you know what, let’s put Curtis outside and he was able to adapt and adjust to that," Brady said. "Same type of football player. He’s extremely bright. He can play any of the positions. Play inside, play outside, play in the backfield. Whatever he needs to do. I don’t see any difference in the style of play. One of the best blockers I’ve been around. The more Curtis Samuel’s on your football team, the better.”

High praise for Samuel from the OC, though that also carries with it elevated expectations.

"Dang! He put me on the spot like that? Now you all will be watching my blocking on film and (if) I messed up, now it’ll be on Twitter," Samuel said. "It’s just the nature of me playing running back. Just not being afraid to put my head in there. Make a good block. I just be confident. I try and hit you before you hit me.”

And if you couldn’t tell already, the Brady-Samuel connection is holding strong even after years apart.

“Joe’s smooth, I’m not going to lie.," Samuel said. "You see him out there, he looks  like he’s got some swag to him. He be smooth and it’s just good having that. Having a young coach, it’s just good seeing that.”

As we wait and see all that the coach can do as he reunites with Curtis Samuel.
