Lions Ban Laser Pointer Fan

Detroit Lions ban laser pointer fan from attending games
This is the play that Buffalo Bills players say a laser was shined on them during the game against Detroit

BUFFALO, NY - The Detroit Lions have identified the fan responsible for shining a laser pointer at Buffalo Bills players during last Sunday's game in Detroit, and acted swiftly in banning him from future games.

The individual, who the team says admitted to using the laser pointer, has also been charged with disorderly conduct.

The NFL launched an investigation earlier in the week after the Bills reported several incidents from the game to the league.

One incident occurred when Bills kicker Dan Carpenter was attempting a 50-yard field goal, the one he missed, and afterward you can see him complaining to the referees.

In the 4th quarter, during a passing play that ended with an incompletion, quarterback Kyle Orton also complained to the referees about the laser.

The full statement from the Lions is below:

The person accused of using a laser pointer at Sunday's Detroit Lions-Buffalo Bills game has been identified and effective immediately will be banned indefinitely from attending all future events at Ford Field, the Lions announced today.

The individual, who subsequently admitted using the laser pointer, also has been charged with a misdemeanor for Disorderly Conduct by the Detroit City Prosecutor's Office.

The Lions also announced that that the Season Ticket Member whose ticket was used by the individual will have his season tickets revoked for the balance of the 2014 season.

"Our guest behavior expectations for all Ford Field events are very high," Lions team President Tom Lewand stated. "Additionally, this occurrence was unique in that it could have affected the integrity of the game and more importantly could have jeopardized player safety.

Ford Field security and operations staffs worked in conjunction with team security, NFL security and Detroit Police on the matter.

"All agencies involved in the investigation of this incident did an exemplary job bringing this issue to an appropriate conclusion," Lewand added.

"Our priority is to provide an enjoyable and safe environment for all our patrons at Ford Field," Lewand continued. "The overwhelming majority of our guests are exceptional and we applaud their behavior and support."
