PITTSFORD, N.Y. — James Cook is a man of few words.
So when asked about his goals for the 2024 season, you can guess the type of response Cook had.
"I don't think I should be saying it here, but I got my goals in my head that I want to achieve and accomplish," Cook said with a smile. "Also team, so as long as I keep checking those boxes off, I'll be alright."
Cook broke out last season with 1,122 rushing yards, fourth most in the NFL. He added another 445 receiving yards on 44 receptions on 55 targets.
That might be where Cook can get even better, especially with Joe Brady fully in the Bills offensive coordinator seat this season.
"However ways I can get the ball, just get it to me and let me do me," Cook said.
Cook is entering his third season in the NFL, but when you look around the Bills offense, he has quickly become one of the longest tenured of the group.
Other players in that position have been open about their desire to elevate their place as a leader.
Cook is no different, though he will do so in a different way.
"I wouldn't say more so lead, just show," Cook said. "Just kind of encourage them. Kind of always be there for them. That's showing forms of leadership. It doesn't also have to be yelling. Just talking. Just by seeing what you do on the field can be a leadership role. Just keep talking to them and giving them that motivation and encouragement."
