ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Following the Buffalo Bills' 48-42 win over the Detroit Lions, the NFL announced Wednesday quarterback Josh Allen was selected as the AFC Offensive Player of the Week , making this his 15th in his career, and third for this season.
Allen scored his 64th career touchdown run during the game against the Lions, inching him closer to a team record held by former Bills running back Thurman Thomas.
"Allen completed 23 of 34 pass attempts (67.6 percent) for 362 yards and two touchdowns with a 122.4 rating in Buffalo’s 48-42 win at Detroit. He also rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns. Allen became the second player ever with at least 350 passing yards, 50 rushing yards, two touchdown passes and two rushing touchdowns in a game, joining Russell Wilson (Sept. 22, 2019, with Seattle)." the NFL noted in a press release.
Allen's three seasons with three-or-more Offensive Player of the Week awards are the fourth-most by a quarterback in NFL history, trailing behind Tom Brady (five seasons), Drew Brees (four) and Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning (four), according to the NFL.
This also makes Allen the 9th quarterback ever to win Offensive Player of the Week 15 or more times.
Allen & the Bills are now heading into week 16 of the regular NFL season and will face the New England Patriots at Highmark Stadium Sunday at 4:25 p.m.
