Latest ESPN poll results might shock Bills fans

A recent ESPN poll revealed what some NFL players think of Josh Allen, and the results might surprise some Bills Mafia fans.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Here in Western New York the Bills Mafia likes to not only celebrate Bills football but also the teams' players. The player who seems to have most of WNY's hearts though is undoubtedly Bills quarterback, Josh Allen.

But what does the rest of the NFL think about him?

In a recent poll done by ESPN, they asked over 100 NFL players to rank quarterbacks in the league using certain criteria, and more. A total of 103 players from 25 NFL teams participated. They were also allowed to vote for their own team's quarterback.

The poll granted those players who were polled, anonymity so answers could be given candidly. The categories in which they were polled were:

  • Top three current quarterbacks
  • Rookie QB who will have the most successful career
  • Most overrated quarterback
  • Biggest trash-talking QB

Now where Josh falls into the poll results might surprise some.

Allen was voted as the number one most overrated quarterback. Here's why according to ESPN:

In the poll, it shared, "When voting for Allen, one NFC West player said: Too many turnovers."

The poll findings go on to say that although a quarterback could be voted as most overrated, that doesn't mean they aren't successful.

Quarterbacks coming in behind Allen in the poll are the Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts and Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa. Allen had 11 votes, and the other two tied with 10.

That isn't the only poll superlative that Allen has taken the number one spot for.

He was also voted as the biggest trash-talking quarterback in the NFL.

In the poll, it wrote "To some of his peers, Allen is one of the top three quarterbacks in the league. To others, he is overrated because of how many turnovers he commits. And to a plurality voting in this category, he's the biggest trash-talking QB in the league."

"He's going to run you over and talk trash after he runs you over," one NFC East player said.

Coming in behind Allen is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield, and New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers.

Allen had 26 votes, while Mayfield had 17, and Rodgers had 15.

Despite not getting the most sought-after poll results, Allen didn't let it get him down. Instead, he made light of the findings with a post on X (formerly Twitter) writing "So you’re telling me, I was voted as the #1 … best trash talker??? Let’s goooooo!!!"

Other notable categories in the poll findings for Allen included an honorable mention in the ranking of the top three current quarterbacks. Those taking the top spots ahead of him were Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, and Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow.
