ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills on Thursday announced the signing of quarterback Mitchell Trubisky to a two-year contract.
Trubisky is no stranger to Buffalo, as he spent the 2021 season as the Bills backup quarterback. In between now and 2021, he had spent time on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Trubisky was the No. 2 overall pick, going to the Chicago Bears, in the 2017 NFL Draft. He started 51 games four years in Chicago before becoming the backup to Josh Allen in 2021. He appeared in six games and threw only eight passes during his one season in Buffalo, running for one touchdown and throwing one interception.
After that, Trubisky signed with the Steelers, where he started 12 games over the past two seasons. He split time as the team's starter with Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph.
In seven seasons, Trubisky has thrown for 12,536 yards and 72 touchdowns and started 57 games.
Trubisky, who will wear No. 11 in Buffalo, made the Pro Bowl in 2018, when the led the Bears to the playoffs.
