ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — From the Buffalo Bulls to the Buffalo Bills.
On Saturday, the Buffalo Bills signed Depew native and former University at Buffalo linebacker Joe Andreessen, who participated in the Bills' rookie minicamp on a try-out basis.
Andreessen now joins the Bills as an undrafted free agent who will get a chance to continue playing in Western New York with the hometown Buffalo Bills.
"A little surreal," Andreessen said. "Just being in there seeing a lot of names I've seen growing up. Just a cool feeling overall."
The 6-foot-1 local product graduated from Lancaster High School before spending five seasons at Bryant University and then returned home to attend the University at Buffalo for his final year. In that season at UB, Andreessen started in all 12 games at inside linebacker and led the Bulls with 90 tackles.
Andreessen now joins cornerback Cam Lewis and cornerback Ja'Marcus Ingram as the current University at Buffalo alumni on the Bills roster.
Andreessen and the rest of the Bills will begin OTAs in less than two weeks on May 20 at One Bills Drive.
