Want to shovel snow at Highmark Stadium? The Bills are asking for help

If you are selected, you're asked to dress appropriately for the weather. You can bring your own shovels, but they will be provided on site.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills and ABM are once again asking for help removing snow from Highmark Stadium.

With Lake Effect Snow Warnings in place across Western New York, the Bills are asking for people to register for future snow removal shifts for the remainder of the season.

Not just anyone can sign up. You must be 18 years old, and you sign up using a Google Docs link right here. People will be paid $20 an hour. Food and hot beverages will be provided.

"Due to unpredictable snowfall, we may not know if shovelers will be needed until the day before. We will call all shovelers based on the availability that is provided on the google doc sheet," the Bills said Friday afternoon

If you are selected, you're asked to dress appropriately for the weather, which includes wearing gloves, scarves, hats, coats, boots, and more to stay warm. You can bring your own shovels, but they will be provided by the Bills and ABM.

If you have any questions, you're encouraged to email buffaloabm@gmail.com for more information.

In regards to the roads around the stadium, Erie Co. Department of Public Works Commissioner Bill Geary Jr. says his crews will focus on Abbot Rd, California Rd and a few others that are under their jurisdiction throughout Saturday and Sunday.

"We'll have crews all night for 12-hour shifts, rotating through on those beats," Geary said. "Then we'll pay real close attention as we get closer to that 3 o'clock period."

The county is aware that several of the private parking lots might not be cleared ahead of the game. Officials are expecting anywhere between 2 and 3 feet of snow near the stadium on Sunday.

"We may see more cars coming to ECC, which will coordinate with ECC that's through the county, make sure those lots are fully clear and can hold to capacity the 1400 cars they can hold," Geary said.

If additional support is needed, Geary says the county will coordinate with the NYSDOT for additional equipment.

"We have plenty of staff, but if we need with getting everything open, especially in and around the stadium, that we don't foresee any issues there, working with New York State DOT and the town Orchard Park for the most part, though through the event in our maintenance districts, I just want to make sure that everyone knows the the first and foremost part of our mission is keep roadways primarily passable," Geary said.
