ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — After a couple of trade downs in the first round, the Buffalo Bills made their first selection of the 2024 NFL Draft on Friday night.
The Bills selected Florida State wide receiver Keon Coleman with the No. 33 overall pick, the first selection of the second round.
Coleman is a 6-foot-3, 213-pound wideout out of Opelousas, La., who is coming off a breakout season with the Seminoles. After two seasons at Michigan State, Coleman transferred to FSU, where in 2023 he led the team with 50 catches for 658 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Coleman earned first-team All-ACC honors in his only season at Florida State.
The pick by the Bills addresses a major need for the Bills at wide receiver, who lost Gabe Davis (free agency) and Stefon Diggs (trade) this offseason.
Buffalo was originally slated to make its first pick at No. 28 overall on Thursday, but a trade back with Kansas City dropped the Bills to the 32nd overall pick. Buffalo turned a fourth round pick into a third rounder and also moved up in the seventh round in the trade.
Brandon Beane wasn't done dealing though, moving back one more spot by trading with Carolina, placing Buffalo's first pick in the draft at the top selection of the second round while turning a sixth into a fifth round pick in the process.
The Bills have nine remaining picks in the draft.
They are:
- Round 2: No. 60
- Round 3: No. 95 (from Chiefs)
- Round 4: No. 128
- Round 5:
- No. 141 (from Panthers)
- 144 (from Bears)
- 160 (from Packers)
- 163
- Round 6: No. 204
- Round 7: No. 221 (from Chiefs)
