ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills' game Sunday against the Chiefs is a marquee matchup every time the two teams meet.
Sunday will mark the eighth time that's happened since the 2020 season. Kansas City holds the edge 4-3 in those games.
The Bills' three wins have come in each of the last three years, all in the regular season.
KC has knocked the Bills out of the playoffs three of the last four seasons.
The latest matchup comes with the Chiefs the last unbeaten team in the NFL at 9-0, including escaping defeat last week by blocking a game-winning field goal by Denver as time expired.
The Bills are right behind them in the AFC standings at 8-2.
A Kansas City win would really put them in the drivers seat to claim the top AFC seed in the postseason.
A Bills win would give them hope of chasing down the two-time reigning Super Bowl champs for that opening-round bye.
Even with those stakes and the stature of each team entering Sunday, the Bills approaching this (at least publicly) as any other game.
"It's a Week 11 game," quarterback Josh Allen said. "It's not bigger or no less than the last 10 games that we've had. I know the media perception and the fan perception and what this game means, but for us it's just Week 11 for us."
Added defensive end A.J. Epenesa: "We've had so many battles with them over the years I try and keep it the same as every week. We all know, I don't want to say the tensions, but we all know the relationship between the two teams. We've played each other. Had some great battles. Wins, losses both sides. They've knocked us out a couple times so yeah, it means a little bit more, but just try and approach it like every single game we have during the season."
Defensive end Greg Rousseau said: "I feel like they're a good team, so you're going to get a lot of hype from the outside. But at the end of the day, every single game is one of 17, so it's the same size. Obviously they're a good team. It's not a bigger deal to me, but I'm sure a lot of people will look at it that way."
Right tackle Spencer Brown said: "It's Week 11. There's a lot of season left, especially for both of us. In the postseason the last three years we've seen them, so you know you're going to play them twice. This game's a good intro for that I'd say and we'll see what happens."
The Bills and Chiefs kickoff their latest battle Sunday afternoon inside Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park at 4:25 p.m.
