ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Bills safety Taylor Rapp was taken off the field in an ambulance after a collision late in the second quarter Sunday evening at Highmark Stadium.
The play happened with a little more than a minute left until halftime when the New York Jets faced a fourth-and-2 at the 50-yard line. Zach Wilson completed a 15-yard pass to running back Breece Hall, with the Bills' Rapp and cornerback Taron Johnson both sustaining injuries on the play.
Johnson got up and jogged to the locker room. Rapp, however, stayed down on the field and was taken away via ambulance. Rapp was seen moving his hands as he was placed in the ambulance.
Bills coach Sean McDermott, during a postgame news conference, said Rapp was resting at home. He did not require a trip to the hospital.
The Bills announced Rapp had a neck injury. The game was delayed for roughly 10 minutes as he received medial attention on the field.
Buffalo ruled Johnson out for the remainder of the game with a concussion.
Two other Bills have left games in an ambulance this calendar year.
Back on Jan. 2, safety Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest during a Jan. 2 game of "Monday Night Football" against the Bengals in Cincinnati.
Hamlin was given CPR for about 10 minutes on the field after making a first-quarter tackle on Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. He was eventually moved onto a stretcher and taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in an ambulance.
His comeback was followed throughout the offseason and into the fall, where he's been active for two games for the Bills.
More recently, back on Oct. 15, Bills running back Damien Harris was taken off the field in an ambulance after an on-field collision against the New York Giants, in another game at Highmark Stadium. He was later released from the hospital.
Harris has not played since then.
