Bills, Sabres losses make for a long sports weekend for fans

It wasn't the best sports weekend for Buffalo sports fans, and a couple social media posts served as painful reminders.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — It wasn't the best sports weekend for Buffalo sports fans.

First, the Sabres lost back-to-back games in Prague to start the second Lindy Ruff era 0-2. Then the Bills couldn't complete their second-half comeback, falling 23-20 in Week 5 against the Houston Texans.

In both cases, the team causing Western New York sports teams heartache rubbed salt in the wound.

The Texans on Sunday posted "EVERYBODY EATS" with a photo of wings, next to a cup of ranch dressing with the score drizzled in wing sauce. Josh Allen struggled on Sunday, completing 9 of 30 passes for 131 yards and one touchdown as Buffalo lost in back-to-back roads games.

Before that, the New Jersey Devils poked fun at the Sabres by using O2 arena, where the two games were played, and placing the Sabres' logo inside the "O," adding, "Turns out the Sabres were right at home the whole time."

The Bills will attempt to avoid a three-game losing streak next week in East Rutherford, N.J., where they play the New York Jets on Monday Night Football.

The Sabres won't have to wait as long. They host the Los Angeles Kings at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
