Bills prepare for challenge of facing Ravens stars Jackson, Henry

The addition of Henry into the Ravens offense is one that Bills coach Sean McDermott called "a marriage made in heaven."

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Ever since the 2018 draft, NFL defenses have had to deal with Josh Allen in Buffalo, and they've also had the headache of stopping Lamar Jackson in Baltimore.

"He's the reigning MVP in the NFL for a reason, so that right there is a one liner that says it all."

Last year, the second of two MVPs for the Ravens star quarterback.

"He's just an incredible athlete an incredible player, probably in a lot of ways changed a lot of things about the NFL by the way he plays."

But now when the Bills visit Baltimore on Sunday Night Football, there's a new element to the challenge of the Ravens offense. Alongside Jackson in the backfield is Derrick Henry, the former Titans running back who McDermott called a future Hall of Famer.

"He's a once in a lifetime type of running back, really hard to stop," McDermott said. "Seems like it's a marriage made in heaven with what they do."

The partnership has worked so far. Henry is fifth in the league in rushing with 281 yards and tied for first with four rushing touchdowns. As a team, the Ravens lead the NFL with 5.9 yards per carry.

The Bills defense knows they'll have their hands full on Sunday night.

"I remember watching the very first game when they played the Kansas City Chiefs in that first drive, it just looked scary," said Bills linebacker Von Miller. "It just looked scary with the type of offensive line that they have, and you've got Derrick Henry back there, and Lamar Jackson always has the threat to take the ball and run it."

"It brings a big challenge," said Bills defensive back Ja'Marcus Ingram. "Those guys are good and they play well and we're just going to bring our physicality and attack the game like we usually do."

Looking to continue the success they've had the first three weeks, this time, against arguably their biggest challenge yet.
