NFL Draft host speculation confirmed by Bills source

The Buffalo Bills have confirmed to 2 On Your Side that the organization is trying to host the NFL Draft in 2028 or 2029.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — In a recent article published by The Buffalo News, they confirmed the Bills have taken the first steps to host the NFL Draft in Buffalo.

The Bills confirmed the details in the BN's article, where Chief Operating Officer Pete Guelli said the team submitted an official request of interest to host the draft in 2028 or 2029.

Guelli shared with the BN that meetings with other NFL teams who have had successful bids, are in the works. He says this would allow the Bills organization to have a better understanding of how the bidding process goes and can better position themselves for when the opportunity presents itself.

Having the new stadiums official opening in 2026 will also play a role in the proposal for the Bills bid.

“We haven’t heard back from the league on timing, but we’ve communicated to the highest levels that we’re very interested in hosting the draft in one of those two years,” Guelli said in the BN's article.

When expressing interest in the early stages, Guelli expressed that being very thorough was an important aspect to truly show just how interested the Bills Franchise is in hosting the draft.

“We tried to be more thorough (with the initial interest form) so they would understand how serious we are about this,” Guelli said. “We want to deliberately follow the process and stay in the hunt.”

The 2024 NFL Draft was hosted in Detroit. The draft has locations already set for the next two years. In 2025 the draft will be held in Green Bay, Wis., and 2026 will be held in Pittsburgh, according to the NFL's website
