'Hurdle' Avenue sign comes down; safety issues cited

A Buffalo Police Department spokesperson said the city worked with company Zoom Buffalo to remove the popular sign, due to safety issues and resident concerns.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The popular Josh Allen "Hurdle" sign that replaced Hertel Avenue in North Buffalo has been taken down.

A spokesperson for the Buffalo Police Department told 2 On Your Side on Wednesday that the city worked with company Zoom Buffalo to remove it due to safety issues and resident concerns.

"I think it really is the court of public opinion. We think most people support it. So everybody from city officials seems to think it's a harmless thing that will be up temporarily," Rory Allen with Zoom Buffalo told 2 On Your Side last month, not long after the sign went up at Hertel and Wellington.

On Saturday afternoon, during a Halloween on Hertel celebration, signs were available at that corner.
