ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Every offseason, people from every NFL fan base start to wonder about schedules.
Who's on the schedule next season? Which games are at home? Which ones are away? What games will be in prime time?
But now there's another annual question fans ponder: Will there be an overseas game on the schedule?
The Buffalo Bills played one of those games last season, in Week 5. They lost 25-20 to the Jacksonville Jaguars, who chose to play games in London during back-to-back weeks, once as the home team and the other as visitors.
The Bills were the home team in that game. Could they be a road team during another international game in 2024?
One helpful hint was provided this month by the NFL's corporate office itself, which identified four of the five teams that will host international games next season.
The Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, and Jacksonville Jaguars will host London games next season, and the Carolina Panthers will play in Munich, Germany. Their opponents — as well the dates, times, and their opponents — will be revealed this spring.
Buffalo plays only one of those teams, the Jaguars, in 2024, and it's unlikely the NFL would schedule a game it had in London last year.
That leaves only one possible spot for the Bills to play an international game, and that's in São Paulo, Brazil. The game marks the first time the NFL will play on South American soil.
While no team has been designated as the host yet, there's only one team with commercial rights in Brazil through the NFL's Global Markets Program, and that's the Miami Dolphins.
Yes, the Bills could be an option if it's the Dolphins hosting a game in Brazil. Miami's other home opponents for next season include the New York Jets, New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, and Las Vegas Raiders.
