ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills ended their second night of the 2024 NFL Draft by adding talent to their interior defensive line.
Buffalo selected Duke defensive tackle DeWayne Carter in the 3rd round Friday night with the No. 95 overall pick in the draft.
Carter brings intangibles as well as on-field production. The 6'2", 302-pound lineman was a three time captain for the Blue Devils and won the ACC's Jim Tatum award as the conference's top scholar-athlete.
"You're always looking when you can add leaders to positions," Bills general manager Brandon Beane said. "I would say he is mature beyond his years."
Additionally, Carter earned on-field all-conference honors each of the past three seasons in Durham. His career at Duke culminated with a first-team All-ACC nod in 2023, starting in all 13 games and making 41 tackles with 3.5 tackles for loss.
"Guy plays hard, relentelss motor, alot of the DNA that we look for on the defensive line."
Carter joins an interior defensive line that returns Ed Oliver and DaQuan Jones, and who also added Austin Johnson and DeShawn Williams.
The Pickerington, Ohio native marked the final selections of Day 2 for the Bills.
Buffalo started the night by addressing the need at wide receiver, taking Florida State WR Keon Coleman 33rd overall, the first pick of the second round.
The Bills later picked for a second time in the second round, taking safety Cole Bishop out of Utah with the 60th overall pick.
Beane and the Bills have seven picks remaining in this year's draft. Here's how their slate looks for the third and final day:
- Round 4: No. 128
- Round 5:
- No. 141 (from Panthers)
- No. 144 (from Bears)
- No. 160 (from Packers)
- No. 163
- Round 6: No. 204
