ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills have re-signed DeQuan Jones to a new 2-year contract worth up to $16 million. According to Jones' agency, the deal includes $10.5 million in guaranteed money.
Jones will be the third pending to ink a new deal in less than 24 hours, with DE A.J. Epenesa and CB Cam Lewis also reaching new agreements with the team.
The news of the new contract broke shortly before 1:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. Jones immediately took to the social media platform X to share his excitement:
The 32-year-old defensive tackle was set to become a free agent on Wednesday, having spent the last two seasons in Orchard Park with the Bills.
Jones missed a significant portion of the 2023 NFL season after he tore a pectoral muscle in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. Jones returned in time to help the Bills clinch their fourth straight AFC East title. He finished the season with 2.5 sacks and 19 tackles.
Jones came to Buffalo from the Carolina Panthers in 2022, signing a 2-year, $14M contract and has maintained his productivity at the center of the defense. He and Ed Oliver have served as the primary run-stopping options along the defensive line.
The legal tampering period, where NFL teams can start negotiating with players, began Monday at noon.
Players looking to join a new team may agree to contract terms, but cannot officially sign until 4:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Players returning to their previous team can sign deals at any time.
