ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The time for rest is over, and the now the most crucial part of the Buffalo Bills season lays ahead of them.
Five weeks and five games remain for the 6-6 Bills to make a push to get into the playoffs. As the team comes off its bye week, it knows it has a tall task ahead of it. The New York Times currently gives the Bills a 15% chance to make the playoffs, odds that would significantly decrease with a loss this week against the Chiefs in Kansas City.
However, the bye week, according to quarterback Josh Allen, served as the perfect chance to what he called "a little bit of reset" ahead of what the team hopes is a playoff push.
"Letting the body heal up a little bit. Obviously there's been some bumps and bruises along the way so physically I think, really both physically and mentally I think it was the best time for the team and myself," Allen said.
Especially on the offensive side of the ball, this is a team that built a little bit of momentum heading into the week of rest. A 32-6 win over the Jets preceded an overtime 37-34 loss in Philadelphia where quarterback Josh Allen played one of his games of the season with four total touchdowns.
Both games came after the switch at offensive coordinator from Ken Dorsey to Joe Brady and both games showed signs of a Bills offense that can get Buffalo back into a playoff position.
"You know, guys are eager to get back to work. We're excited to be back here. We know what's in front of us and what situation we're in but we've got a lot of guys in this locker room that are very excited to be back and have a very good feel in this in this locker room for what we need to do."
