ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Amari Cooper's Bills debut started poorly.
The rest of the offense also really struggled in the first half, with both turning a bit of a corner after halftime, as the Bills beat the Tennessee 34-10 on Sunday afternoon at Highmark Stadium.
Cooper dropped a pass from Josh Allen on the opening series of the game. The offense as a whole produced four three-and- outs in the first half, and had 18 total yards after the first quarter.
A 44-yard pitch-and-catch from Allen to Keon Coleman followed by an 11-yard James Cook rushing TD were the few bright spots that allowed the Bills to just be down 10-7 at half.
Their first possession of the third quarter was capped by a Cooper 12-yard TD catch on what was just his eighth snap of the game.
Cooper finished his first game with the Bills with four catches for 66 yards.
The Bills added to the lead on the first play of fourth quarter when Allen found Ty Johnson for a 4-yard score to make it 24-10. Tyler Bass added a 30-yard field goal to make it 27-10, one play after what first appeared to be an Allen-to-Coleman touchdown pass was wiped out following a replay.
Ray Davis completed the Bills' scoring with a 16-yard touchdown run with 2:44 to play, sending the fans home happy. He led the team in rushing with five carries for 41 yards. James Cook had 12 carries for 32 yards and a score.
Allen completed 21 of 33 passes for 323 yards and two touchdowns. Coleman had four catches for 125 yards to lead the team in receiving yards.
The win moves Buffalo to 5-2 on the season. They head west next weekend to face the Seahawks in Seattle.
