Bills offense looks to get back on track, correct slow starts.

The Bills have scored a combined seven first half points over the past two games.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — If you take a bird's eye view at the numbers, they say the Bills have one of the top offenses in the league. Buffalo ranks third in points per game and fifth in yards per game.

But anyone who's watched the last two Bills games will tell you those numbers don't tell the whole story.

The Bills offense hasn't been its high flying self the past two weeks, especially plagued by slow starts. Seven first half points in the loss to the Jaguars, and a shutout in the first half Sunday night at home against the Giants.

"You know, obviously, every time we touch the ball, we want to score," Allen said. "That hasn't happened the last couple weeks but we know as an offense we're capable of better and comes down to the guys on the field, myself included, on executing the plays Coach (Ken) Dorsey calls."

At the same time, Allen expressed confidence in the offense's ability to get back on track after scoring 34 points across the last two weeks, following a three week stretch where the Bills averaged 41 points per game.

"Just because we hit a lull right now doesn't mean it's the end of the world," Allen said. "We're working through some things and this adversity is going to help us moving forward get to our answers quicker, and I think it's something that is necessary and that an offense needs to go through at times to figure things out when things are going to get tough here later in the season."

Part of finding those answers more quickly, according to head coach Sean McDermott, is doing a better job using the full slate of weapons the Bills have on offense.

"It's about 'hey, we're going into Week 7 now, we should know some of these guys and what they do best and the roles they're going to play and positions they're going to occupy for us. And it's putting them in those positions so that we can be the best offense we can become."

McDermott said the offense has shown flashes in previous weeks, and that the focus going forward is consistently being in rhythm.

"I think we've done it at times, but we need to do more of it," McDermott said. "Just, again, putting our collective minds together, heads together and saying 'hey, this what this player does best' and then how does it all come together into one unit and shaping a purpose and a plan each week."

The Bills will look to find their rhythm this Sunday at 1 p.m. in an AFC East matchup against the Patriots in Foxborough.
