Playoff-bound Bills host Jets in regular-season finale

The last time the Bills won 11 games in a season was 1999. They have a chance to match that with a home game Sunday against the Jets.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — With a win against the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon, the Bills would finish the regular season with a record of 11-5.

The last time the Bills won 11 games in a season was 1999.

The Bills opened the season against the Jets in New York. The Jets scored the first 16 points, but the Bills rallied to win 17-16. Quarterback Josh Allen connected with John Brown for a 38-yard touchdown with three minutes left in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback.

With a win the Bills would be 4-2 in the AFC East, with both losses coming to the New England Patriots.

The Bills will find out their first round playoff opponent after Sunday's games. They are locked into the fifth spot so they are headed to either Houston or Kansas City.

The Bills will play Houston if:

  • Kansas City wins
  • Kansas City and Houston both lose.

And the Bills will play Kansas City if Kansas City loses and Houston wins.

The Bills could play either Saturday or Sunday next week.

The last order of business before the playoffs is to close out the regular season. Sunday is expected to be a miserable rainy and wet day, with the rain starting around noon, an hour before kickoff.

Bills coach Sean McDermott has said the starters will see action, but he didn't say how much.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at New Era Field.
