2 the point: Quick thoughts on the Bills’ Week 6 victory against the Giants

Here are some quick thoughts following the Bills’ Week 6 game against the New York Giants on Sunday.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Here are some quick thoughts following the Buffalo Bills’ Week 6 game against the New York Giants on Sunday night.

MVP

The defense. In a game where the offense once again struggled to score points, the defense gave the Bills a chance to win when they were not so sharp. The Bills were outgained 317-297, but the two goal-line stands were massive, and they were vastly different. Both, however, went the Bills' way, and so did the game.

HONORABLE MENTION

It's the late third-quarter skirmish as the Bills marched toward the goal line. The Giants picked up three unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, and the Bills had one with guard Dion Dawkins. The energy of the crowd and the teams instantly soared. Not long after that, on the first play of the fourth quarter, Josh Allen found Deonte Harty for a 3-yard touchdown pass as the Bills took their first lead following a 17-play, 89-yard drive.

PLAY OF THE GAME

Win or lose, the Giants' running out the clock by running the ball to end the first half loomed large. The Bills should've gone into halftime down two scores. Instead, they got a reprieve and hung around some more. That play represented a lost opportunity by the Giants to seize even more momentum and deflate a raucous Bills Mafia crowd.

BY THE NUMBERS

Signing edge rusher Leonard Floyd to a one-year contract back in June has provided a big boost to the defense. His first-quarter sack gave him 6.5 this season, tops on the team.

INJURY REPORT

A scary moment happened in the second quarter when running back Damien Harris was taken off the field by an ambulance after sustaining a neck injury. The Bills soon reported that he had movement in his arms and legs and was being taken to a hospital for further evaluation.

NEXT GAME

The Bills travel to Foxborough, Mass, to play the New England Patriots at 1 p.m. next Sunday.
