College Basketball Roundup: UB men's taken down by Butler, Bonnies women's come up shy at Cornell

The Bulls slide to 1-8 on the season after their loss to Butler on Tuesday. St. Bonaventure falls to 2-7 as Cornell wins close game 55-53.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Bulls are on the road at Butler Tuesday night to take on the Bulldogs. UB looking to end their five-game losing streak heading into the game but were unable to get anything going tonight as the Bulls lost to Butler 72-59. 

Sy Chatman led in points tonight for Buffalo with 16. He finished off the night with eight rebounds, seven of those being in the defensive end, and going 2-4 on three-pointers and 7-11 on field goals.

The Bulls kept it close in the first half, trailing by nine at halftime. They eventually fell behind by 24 points during the second half, and would only be able to pull it back within nine, but it just wasn't enough to stop the Bulldogs.

Up next: UB will host Western Kentucky on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

ST. BONAVENTURE

St. Bonaventure on the road at Cornell on Tuesday to close out a two-game road trip. The Bonnies looking to snap a two-game losing streak against the Big Red, took this one down to the final seconds of regulation but just couldn't find a way to tie things up late as they lost to Cornell 55-53.

The Bonnies had the lead for the first, second, and third quarters but were unable to contain a last-minute push by Cornell. 

 Nadechka Laccen scored the most points tonight for the Bonnies with 16 and finished with seven rebounds, going 5-6 on free throws and 5-10 on field goals. 

Up next: St. Bonaventure will host Youngstown State on December 16 at 1:00 p.m.
