Josh Allen is not a rookie anymore as his first season in the NFL came to a close and it ended on a high note with a 42-17 win over the Dolphins on Sunday.

Allen ended the day with five touchdowns, two on the ground and three through the air.

"It was my goal to learn and grow through the game of football and I thought I did a pretty good job of that. I think I've grown a tremendous amount," Josh Allen said on Monday as the Bills wrapped up the season with locker clean out.

The Bills ended the season 6-10 and Allen finished the year 5-6 as a starter and played in 12 games while missing four with an elbow injury.

"It sucks not being able to play in the playoffs and missing four games I feel like the season went by extremely fast. I love playing football, I love everything about it except the losing part but it's something I love doing. I love playing the game of football so I'm already itching to get back to practicing and getting back in the swing of things. It can't come soon enough," Allen explained.

Allen threw for 2,074 yards, ten touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 12 games. He was also extremely productive with his legs rushing for 631 yards and eight touchdowns to end as the team's leading rusher.

At the beginning of the season, Allen was not expected to play as much as he did this year given head coach Sean McDermott named Nathan Peterman the starter to start the year.

But Allen quickly replaced him. First, Allen came in during the second half of the season opener at Baltimore then he took over the starting job in week two against the Chargers and never looked back.

"There's nothing like in-game experience, there's nothing like game reps. You can't mimic those or fake game like reps. Every experience, every defense, every game has its own different elements to it," Allen said.

Last week, McDermott said he even thinks they're ahead of things going into next season with Allen getting this experience more than what they would have been if Allen had sat most of this year like some thought.
