Hockey and the community supporting the fight against cancer

Money raised during Friday's game will go to benefit cancer research

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Sabres are giving back to the community, and helping  Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in its efforts to fight cancer.

Friday's game against the Minnesota Wild will be another installation of Hockey Fights Cancer.  There will be 50/50 ticket raffles, donation prizes, and a fan wall sweepstakes competition, with proceeds going to benefit cancer research at Roswell Park.

You can purchase your tickets to the Sabres Hockey Fights Cancer Night game here.

The Sabres aren't the only hockey players in WNY making a difference.

11 Day Power Play Founders Mike and Amy Lesakowski visited Daybreak, to share what makes the collaboration of hockey and cancer research important for the community.

"Cancer patients need support every day and families going through it in our community. And what a great way for our community to show that we care, through the incredible sport of hockey," Co-founder of the 11 Day Power Play, Amy Lesakowski said.

$10 million dollars has been raised since the fundraiser was founded in 2016, and the fight continues for them as they host their 11-Day Power Play Community Shifts in June. You and your team can register to take to the ice on the 11-Day Power Play's website.
