KENMORE, N.Y.-Williamsville North is 2-0 to start the football season. The Spartans with a 22-12 win over Kenmore West Saturday afternoon at Crosby Field in Kenmore.
Kenmore West drops to 1-1 on the season. Jamir Lynch carried 15 times for 101 yards and scampered 64 yards for a touchdown for West.
The Spartans opened the scoring in the first quarter when quarterback Jason Hwang hit Rodney Corbin for a 40 yard touchdown. The Spartans struck again in the second quarter when Hwang connected with Brett Isler for an 8 yard touchdown. The Spartans added an Eddie Bianco field goal and led 16-0 at halftime.
Anthony Maniscalco had 3 interceptions for North in the first half. Ivan Ghemmegne scored on a short run in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring for North.
Lynch added a short run for Kenmore West with just under 7 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
North is home Friday September 16 against Niagara Wheatfield. Kickoff is scheduled for 7-pm. Kenmore West is at Niagara Falls at 2-pm Saturday September 17.
