Buffalo florist builds Bills display to boost team spirit

Maureen's Buffalo Wholesale Flower Market has brought together football, fandom, and flowers.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Flower power isn't likely to boost the Bills offense but a local florist is hoping her shop can boost the spirit of the Bills Mafia.

Maureen's Buffalo Wholesale Flower Market has brought together football, fandom, and flowers at the corner of Genesee, Chippewa, and Ellicott Street in the city.

“We decided to turn it around a little bit with the momentum,” said owner Maureen Bartley.

On Saturday Bartley and her team constructed a 2,000 flower display made up of roses, hydrangeas, and various other varieties - in red, white, and blue.

“Do something new and different, catch people’s eye going down the street,” Bartley said.

Ever since the display has been catching people’s attention like Josh Allen to Stefon Diggs.

The display is just down the road from Bartley’s shop and like bees to honey has attracted quite a few members of Bills Mafia. A few came by to take photos when 2 On Your Side stopped by on Monday - ahead of the Buffalo vs. Denver game in Orchard Park.

“We wanted to do it before it got really cold and snowy so we knew the flowers would last at least a week by doing it this time of year,” Bartley said.

She added that while this Bills display won’t last forever it is not the last “Flash Flower Display” they plan to erect in Buffalo.

Because while Bills fans may be worried with the team sitting at 5-4 these flowers are not for the team’s funeral.

“We’re in the flower business let’s be positive,” said Bartley.
