BUFFALO, N.Y. — Here is a recap of local Division I NCAA college basketball action from Wednesday.
NCAA Women's: Buffalo 70, Bowling Green 64
The UB women's basketball team was in Cleveland on Wednesday afternoon to open up their postseason run in the MAC Tournament.
The Bulls took on the Bowling Green Falcons, a team they faced twice and beat twice during the regular season.
Buffalo's success against the Falcons continued into the postseason as the Bulls beat Bowling Green 70-64.
They started strong with a nine-point lead to end the first, but the Falcons rallied back to within six points by halftime.
Bowling Green was able to take control of the lead heading into the final quarter of regulation, but the Bulls rallied back with a 24-point fourth quarter to secure the win and advance to the semifinals.
Chellia Watson had 24 points for UB, leading the team in scoring, and added three rebounds, an assist, and a block.
UP NEXT: Buffalo will face Toledo in the semifinals on Friday. Tip-off against the Rockets is scheduled for 10 a.m.
NCAA Women: Niagara 70, Quinnipiac 56
Niagara women's basketball team began its tournament run against the Quinnipiac Bobcats on Wednesday afternoon.
It was a slow start to this one, as both teams put up a combined 41 points in the first half.
They would both go on and create more offensive opportunities in the second, but the Purple Eagles walked away with the win. Amelia Strong led the team with 20 points. Aaliyah Parker and Ary Hicks each followed with 12 points of their own.
UP NEXT: Niagara will play the winner of the Siena vs. Mount St. Mary's game, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday.
NCAA Men: St. Bonaventure 75, La Salle 73
St. Bonaventure Bonnies men's basketball team was in Brooklyn to take on La Salle in its first A-10 Tournament game.
It was a nail-biter for the Bonnies as things went right down to the buzzer in this matchup. Despite having a 10-point lead going into the second half, the Explorers were able to come back and take the lead around the halfway mark of the second quarter.
Both teams went back and forth for the final 10 minutes of regulation, but a missed 3-pointer and dunk by La Salle in the final seconds of the game sent the Bonnies to the next round.
Mika Adams-Woods scored 15 points and six assists for the Bonnies.
UP NEXT: St. Bonaventure will face Loyola Chicago on Thursday. Tip-off against the Ramblers is scheduled for 5 p.m.
NCAA Men: Quinnipiac 76, Canisius 52
The Canisius Golden Griffins' season came to an end on Wednesday after a loss to Quinnipiac in the MAAC Tournament.
Canisius kept things tight in the first quarter, only finding themselves down by seven at the half.
The Bobcats outscored the Golden Griffins 42-25 in the second, leading them to a 76-52 victory.
Tre Dinkins led for Canisius with 17 points, three assists, and four rebounds.
