UB men's basketball opens MAC play with win over Central Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — The UB Bulls men's basketball team traveled to Central Michigan to take on the Chippewas Tuesday night for their first MAC conference game of the season.

Led by a 26-point performance by forward Sy Chatman, the Bulls won their second game of the season and improved to 1-0 in the MAC with a 76-64 win over the Chippewas.

UB quickly ran away with the lead early on in the game, going up 21-8 halfway through the first half. They were able to hang on to their lead and close out the first half with a 36-18 lead. 

The Chippewas came out firing to begin the second half, cutting Buffalo's lead to 41-31 about six minutes in. 

As Central Michigan inched closer to taking the lead, Jonnivius Smith and Isaiah Adams sank multiple free-throw opportunities to lead the Bulls to their second win of the year.

The Bulls finished the game with a 90.9 free-throw percentage, going 20-22, and picked up 40 total rebounds.
