The Niagara men's basketball used a second-half rally to down the University at Buffalo 69-63 Thursday at Alumni Arena.
Purple Eagles forward Yaw Obeng-Mensah posted 20 points and 9 rebounds, leading Niagara (4-8) to the road win in the clash of Big 4 foes. Sy Chatman led the Bulls with 29 points and 13 rebounds.
Niagara trailed 30-20 at halftime, but outscored Buffalo 49-33 in the second half to come away with the victory. The Purple Eagles outscored the Bulls 38-30 in the paint, and went 17-19 at the free throw line, compared to a 9-for-17 effort for UB at the charity stripe.
The loss drops the Bulls to 1-11 so far in their first season under new head coach George Halcovage. UB now enters MAC play yet to record a win against a Division I opponent.
