College basketball roundup: UB women, St. Bonaventure men and women all lose

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Here's a recap of Western New York NCAA Division I basketball action from Wednesday night.

NCAA Women: Northern Illinois 66, Buffalo 57

Despite staying within a few baskets of the Huskies, the University at Buffalo couldn't keep pace in the final quarter as it dropped this one at home.

Chelia Watson added 16 points to her yearly tally, leading the way for the Bulls. She also had seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals. 

Kirsten Lewis-Williams had 14 points, and Alexis Davis had 11 points to round out the top scorers for Buffalo.

UP NEXT: The Bulls will host Ohio on Saturday. Tip-off against the Bobcats is scheduled for 2 p.m.

NCAA Men: La Salle 72, St. Bonaventure 59

St. Bonaventure men hit the road at La Salle, looking to continue a two-game win streak. The Bonnies couldn't hang on as they fell to the Explorers. 

Chad Venning had 22 points on the night, four rebounds, three assists, and one blocked shot.

UP NEXT: The Bonnies will travel to Massachusetts on Saturday. Tip-off against the Minutemen is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

NCAA Women: George Mason 57, St. Bonaventure 53

The St. Bonaventure women looked to snap a 12-game losing skid against the Patriots. The Bonnies trailed by two with just seconds remaining on the clock, but the streak hit as Bona lost.

Isabellah Middleton led St. Bonaventure with 13 points, adding eight rebounds, and one assist.

UP NEXT: St. Bonaventure will begin their final road trip of the season Sunday as they face Saint Louis. Tip-off against the Billikens is scheduled for 3 p.m.
