AMHERST, N.Y. — The season came to an end Thursday for the University at Buffalo women's basketball team.
UB fell to Monmouth 68-58 at Alumni Arena in the first round of the WNIT. The Bulls finished the season with a 19-14 overall record.
It was a 14-7 UB lead after one quarter, but the second quarter flipped the momentum, with Monmouth outscoring Buffalo 26-7 in the frame. Despite a game-high 26 points from star guard Chellia Watson, the Bulls couldn't overcome a cold shooting night from 3 (3 for 18) and a disparity at the free throw line; Monmouth was 20 of 22, compared to 9 for 11 for the Bulls.
The game marked Buffalo's second-ever appearance in the WNIT and the seventh postseason berth in program history.
