ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — The Niagara women's basketball team is one away from punching its ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
The Purple Eagles are moving on the final of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship game after defeating Siena 87-70 in Friday's semifinal matchup.
Niagara cruised to victory after a 34-11 first quarter set the tone for the rest of the afternoon in Atlantic City.
Four players scored in double figures for the Purple Eagles, with Aaliyah and Angel Parker leading the way with 13 points each. Aaliyah Parker added eight rebounds and four steals, while Angel Parker added five rebounds and four assists.
Niagara's biggest advantage came on the boards, with a 53-34 rebounding advantage helping to power the Purple Eagles to victory.
Niagara will now face top-seeded and 25th ranked Fairfield in the final on Saturday. The Stags advance to the final after defeating Canisius 77-64 in the semifinal. Fairfield is 30-1 on the season and has not lost to a Metro Atlantic opponent all year.
Saturday's final is set for a 3:30 p.m. tip off, with coverage on ESPN+.
