Canisius and UB hoops roundup

BUFFALO, N.Y. β€” Both the men's and women's basketball programs at Canisius beat the D'Youville Saints in back to back matchups on Monday night.

Canisius women

The Canisius women kicked off the double header at the Koessler Athletic Center and sophomore forward Sisi Eleko lead the way for the Golden Griffs with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Griffs senior guard Grace Heeps added 13 points to the final tally which would help put Canisius on top for the 67-59 win. 

The Golden Griffs will now travel to Illinois for their next matchup against the Fighting Illini on Sunday afternoon.

Canisius men

Tre Dinkins had 19 points in Canisius' 109-69 win against D'Youville on Monday night.

Dinkins also added six rebounds for the Golden Griffins (2-2). Siem Uijtendaal scored 18 points while shooting 6 for 14 (3 for 8 from 3-point range) and 3 of 4 from the free throw line, and added seven rebounds. Bryce Okpoh was 7 of 9 shooting and 4 of 7 from the free throw line to finish with 18 points.

Nasir Hammonds led the way for the Saints with 15 points. D'Youville also got 14 points and two steals from Noah Hutchins. Nelson St. Louis also had nine points.

Men’s basketball evened its record at 2-2 with a 109-69 home win over D'Youville Monday night. Read about the Griffs' best 40:00 scoring out-put since 1979 in the link below.

University at Buffalo men

The Bulls fell in a tough matchup with the Hofstra Pride in the first round of the Gulf Coast Showcase in Fort Myers, Florida on Monday night. 

UB's Sy Chatman led the way with 15 points in this game but the Bulls would still take the 102-68 loss and will now fall to 1-3 so far on the season.
