College basketball roundup: Niagara fans storm court; St. Bonaventure, Canisius also win

All three teams picked up conference wins on home court.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Friday night saw three of the Big 4 men's college basketball teams in action.

All three earned conference wins at home, with slate highlighted by a court storming at Niagara after the Purple Eagles' 67-62 win over Marist. Canisius defeated Manhattan by double digits, while St. Bonaventure cruised past St. Joseph's in Olean.

Niagara 67, Marist 62

LEWISTON (AP) — Harlan Obioha had 16 points in Niagara's 67-62 victory against Marist on Friday night.

Obioha had seven rebounds for the Purple Eagles (10-9, 6-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Braxton Bayless scored 12 points while shooting 5 of 9 from the field. Ahmad Henderson II had 10 points and was 3 of 10 shooting, including 0 for 3 from 3-point range, and went 4 for 4 from the line.

Jaden Daughtry led the way for the Red Foxes (9-8, 4-4) with 17 points. Max Allen added 13 points for Marist.

Canisius 82, Manhattan 70

BUFFALO (AP) — Frank Mitchell had 21 points in Canisius' 82-70 victory against Manhattan on Friday night.

Mitchell also contributed 15 rebounds for the Golden Griffins (8-11, 3-6 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Tre Dinkins scored 18 points and added five rebounds and eight assists. Siem Uijtendaal shot 6 for 11 (2 for 5 from 3-point range) and 4 of 4 from the free throw line to finish with 18 points.

Seydou Traore led the way for the Jaspers (4-13, 1-7) with 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two blocked shots. Shaquil Bender added 11 points for Manhattan. In addition, Jaden Winston had 10 points and five steals. The loss is the 10th straight for the Jaspers.

Both teams next play Sunday. Canisius hosts Marist and Manhattanplays Niagara on the road.

St. Bonaventure 91, St. Joseph's 72

OLEAN (AP) — Daryl Banks III's 29 points off of the bench helped Saint Bonaventure to a 91-72 victory against Saint Joseph's on Friday night.

Banks also had five assists for the Bonnies (12-7, 3-4 Atlantic 10 Conference). Moses Flowers scored 23 points, going 10 of 17 (3 for 7 from 3-point range). Chad Venning finished 10 of 13 from the floor to finish with 21 points.

Cameron Brown finished with 16 points for the Hawks (13-7, 3-4). Christ Essandoko added 14 points and seven rebounds for Saint Joseph's.
