College Basketball Roundup: Canisius and Niagara drop home games against MAC rivals

Both Canisius and Niagara had conference matchups at home on Sunday afternoon.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Latrell Reid's 10 points helped Saint Peter's hold off Canisius 54-52 on Sunday in men's college basketball action.

Reid had seven rebounds for the Peacocks (3-4). Michael Houge added eight points while going 3 of 7 and 2 of 3 from the free throw line, and he also had seven rebounds. Corey Washington was 3 of 11 shooting (0 for 3 from 3-point range) to finish with eight points.

Frank Mitchell finished with 16 points and nine rebounds for the Golden Griffins (5-4). Siem Uijtendaal added 12 points and three steals for Canisius. Tre Dinkins also had nine points.

NEXT UP: Canisius hosts Robert Morris on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Niagara falls

Matt Balanc had 19 points in Quinnipiac's 75-68 overtime victory over Niagara on Sunday.

Balanc had seven rebounds for the Bobcats (6-2, 1-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Savion Lewis scored 18 points and added five rebounds and eight assists. Paul Otieno had 15 points and went 7 of 9 from the field.

Harlan Obioha led the Purple Eagles (1-5, 0-2) in scoring, finishing with 16 points and nine rebounds. Ahmad Henderson II added 13 points and two steals for Niagara. Yaw Obeng-Mensah also had 10 points and the game-tying layup with one second left in regulation.
