Week 4: Bills beat Raiders, improve to 4-0

The Bills improve to 4-0 after a 30-23 win over the Raiders in Las Vegas.

LAS VEGAS — BUFFALO BILLS AT LAS VEGAS RAIDERS, Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas

FIRST QUARTER

-Josh Allen comes out and keeps the Buffalo offense in its groove leading an 8-play 75-yard drive that featured multiple completions to Stefon Diggs that included hook-ups of 21 and 15-yards.  Allen found rookie Gabe Davis for a 26-yard TD to give Buffalo a 7-0 lead.

-The Raiders respond by driving 48-yards in 12-plays with Daniel Carlson connecting on a 54-yard FG to cut the Buffalo lead to 7-3.

SECOND QUARTER

-Allen leads another 75-yard scoring drive over 11-plays connecting with Cole Beasley who makes a very difficult catch on an 11-yard TD to give Buffalo a 14-3 lead in the game.

-The Raiders put together a 12-play 54-yard scoring drive that included a touchdown pass called back for an illegal formation.  The Buffalo defense again holds Las Vegas out of the end zone and Daniel Carlson caps the drive with a 39-yard FG.  Bills lead 14-6.

-The Bills go 59-yards in 11-plays.  It's a drive that's capped by a Tyler Bass 34-yard FG to extend with Buffalo lead to 17-6.   But overshadowing virtually everything was the fact that on a dynamic third down completion to Stefon Diggs, Allen landed on this left shoulder and has been taken to the dressing room.

-The Raiders drive 75-yards over 11-plays with Derek Carr connecting with Jason Witten on a 3-yard TD to cap the drive, cutting the Buffalo lead to 17-13 at the half.

THIRD QUARTER

-The Raiders open the second half with a 68-yard scoring drive.  The Bills hold them out of the end zone but Daniel Carlson connects on a 25-yard field goal to cut the Buffalo lead to 17-16.

-The Bills drive stalls on a 3rd and 20 incompletion to John Brown over the middle of the field.   The Bills had converted a 4th and 1 earlier in the drive but they're forced to punt.

-The Bills defense, which has struggled to generate pressure all day, comes up with a sack on 3rd down on a play that could have been ruled a fumble, forcing the Raiders to punt for the first time in the game.

FOURTH QUARTER

-The Bills get a terrific return from Andre Roberts and get to work on a six-play 45-yard drive.  Allen connects with Diggs and John Brown at the goal line.  After a challenge, the completion to Brown is confirmed short of the end zone.  Allen punches it in on a sneak.  Rookie kicker Tyler Bass, however, misses the PAT, and the Bills lead 23-16 early in the fourth quarter.

-After suffering a hamstring injury in training camp, veteran cornerback Josh Norman was making his debut for the Bills in this game and makes a huge impact forcing a fumble that gave the Bills the ball at their own 40-yard line.   On the next play, Allen connects with Stefon Diggs downfield for a gain of 49. Devin Singletary is able to finish the four play 60-yard drive that  took all of 1:11, as the Bills extend their lead to 30-16.

-The Bills defense comes up with a key stop on fourth and short with Ed Oliver able to penetrate into the backfield and shut the play down.

-Allen takes a horrific sack that takes Buffalo out of field goal range giving the Raiders the ball with just over seven minutes left in the fourth.

-Bills defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson comes up with another big play forcing Carr to fumble and recovering.   Another key turnover from the Buffalo defense in the second half.

-After the Bills offense is forced to punt, the Raiders score on a Derek Carr TD pass to Nelson Agholor on 4th and 1 to cut the Bills lead to seven points with 1:29 left in the  game.

-The Bills are able to recover the onside kick, and are able to run out the clock, winning the game 30-23.
