Bills referenced by Oilers coach when discussing the value of championship experience

A comment by Edmonton Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch recently went viral and stung many sports fans across Western New York.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — How much does experience matter when trying to win a championship?

Edmonton Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch addressed that during a news conference Tuesday, just days ahead of Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Florida Panthers.

His comment, drawing on past events, recently went viral and stung many sports fans across Western New York.

"Experience is good, I don’t know how much experience is beneficial," Knoblauch said. "You can ask the Buffalo Bills how important Super Bowl experience is, but I think the biggest thing is just having confidence and playing. When our guys are playing their best, they should have a lot of confidence."

A quick glance at the Panthers roster might also make Buffalo sports fans wince. Former Sabres Kyle Okposo, Sam Reinhart, Brandon Montour, Evan Rodrigues, and Dmitry Kulikov are all on Florida's active roster. That list does not include Rasmus Asplund, who is also under contract with the team.
