ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Even though the Redskins average just over 84 rushing yards per game, if the Bills run defense plays like it did last week, Washington can run all over them.
That's exactly what the Eagles did as Buffalo gave up 218 rushing yards in a 31-13 loss at home including a 65-yard touchdown run from rookie Miles Sanders to start the third quarter.
"It was a nasty taste in our mouths and we watched the film and kind of moved on from that game in a sense of from an emotional standpoint but understanding obviously Washington is going to watch the film and see where the Eagles and even Miami had some success running the ball against us," linebacker Lorenzo Alexander said.
"Yeah, reteach. Whether it's run defense or whatever it is, as it relates to performance is reteach the fundamentals. That's what I've been around for my career. And that's what we that's what we'll do, and we'll continue to do that to reteach the fundamentals because if we're not getting the fundamentals, then we've got to go back and reteach the fundamentals and make sure it's clear what we expect with fundamentals and technique, and then execution. So yeah, that’s what we are, we’re teachers. We go back and reteach to make sure there's an understanding of what we're looking for and what we need," head coach Sean McDermott said.
The Bills know their run defense has to improve this week otherwise Adrian Peterson is going have a similar performance to what Jordan Howard and Sanders had last week.
"We expect to see similar plays so we have to make sure that our fundamentals going from our feet to our hands and our eyes are on point so that we can be able to come off and make plays and populate the ball because they have a good running back that's coming in," Alexander explained.
Peterson has rushed for 383 yards on 97 carries and a touchdown so far this season.
