BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Public Schools recently added a day off for students for the 2023-2024 school year.
The district said there will now be no school for students on April 8, 2024, in light of the historic solar eclipse that will be visible in our region.
An eclipse will occur around the time that students would be dismissed from school.
The district said the solar eclipse is expected to draw a significant number of tourists to the region, and it is expected that traffic and roadways will be impacted around the time of the eclipse.
Due to this day off that was approved by the board, the district said that if it requires additional instructional time to meet New York State’s minimum standards it will use June 26, 2024, or June 27, 2024, as an instructional day for students, if needed.
