A once in lifetime sight at one of the wonders of the world

The view of the total solar eclipse can be seen from both the U.S. and Canadian sides.

NIAGARA FALLS, ON — People may be planning on where they will view the upcoming total solar eclipse and there is one spot where you won't want to miss it.

National Geographic named Niagara Falls one of the Top 20 Travel Experiences ranked #11 in the Best of the World 2024 category.

Beginning at approximately 3:18 p.m. on April 8 for about three and a half minutes, the sky will darken over as the moon crosses between Earth and the Sun where Niagara Falls is said to be directly in the path of totality.

President and CEO of Niagara Falls Tourism, Janice Thomson, says that Niagara Falls Tourism is looking forward to welcoming all to experience the memorable eclipse.

“The eclipse will be one of those rare and special moments where you will be able to witness one wonder, right above another. We expect it to be a wonderful event, one that will make lasting memories for all that visit," Thomson said.

The view of the total solar eclipse can be seen from both the U.S. and Canadian sides. On the U.S. side of the falls, the prime viewing areas are Terrapin Point, Prospect Point, and the Observation Tower. On the Canadian side, you'll want to be at Table Rock Center.

Well-known spots with the best views will also be the Skylon Tower over the border in Canada and the Niagara SkyWheel in Canada located on the Clifton Hill strip.

Another plus will be if the clouds stay away and it is a sunny day, the rainbow hovering over the falls will turn pink.
