Wind Chill Advisory issued for all of WNY and Winter Weather Advisory issued for the Southern Tier

Wind chill values could make it feel as low as -20 degrees, where frostbite can occur within 30 minutes.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — All week long Storm Team 2 has been previewing the potential for very cold temperatures on Friday and Saturday.

A Wind Chill Advisory lasts until 10 a.m. Saturday for all of Western New York and for Potter and McKean counties in northern Pennsylvania. Temperatures in the single digits or sub-zero plus a gusty northerly breeze could lead to wind chill values as low as -10 to -20 degrees throughout the day and into Saturday morning. Exposed skin could get frostbite in as little as 30 minutes in these kind of temperatures.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Cattaraugus and Chautauqua Counties until 4 a.m. Saturday. Three to five inches of snow is expected and could lead to slippery road conditions.

Today the cold really sinks in though with temperatures struggling to rise out of the single digits. Wind chills will be well below zero by this point, potentially needing a cold weather alert.

The coldest temperatures of this Arctic blast are expected tonight into Saturday morning. Temperatures could fall below zero for the first time since February 1, 2019. The morning low forecasted for Saturday is 0 degrees. The record low temperature for February 4th is -9 degrees, set back on the date in 1918.

Stick with Storm Team 2 for the latest updates ahead of the incoming snow and cold.
