BUFFALO, N.Y. — Kim Vaillancourt, a mother of six from the Town of Tonawanda, has been bravely battling a rare form of brain cancer—glioblastoma—for three and a half years now. Her faith and perseverance throughout her fight has touched people across Western New York.
Kim was diagnosed in December 2015 with glioblastoma just days after adopting three children. She and her husband Phil had two children of their own and were expecting a third at the time. She put off treatment to protect her unborn son. Baby Wyatt Eli was born April 4, 2016, and he and all the children are doing well.
Upon her diagnosis, doctors gave Kim only about a year to live. She's clearly surpassed their expectations.

Kim's most recent brain scans, however, showed what appeared to be a new tumor.
She had surgery Tuesday to have it removed. According to a statement made by the family on Facebook late Thursday night, the lump removed from her brain was not cancerous and Kim doesn't need any further treatments at this time. The post went on to say "Thank you for your prayers."
