GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. - Bridge work on the southbound North Grand Island Bridge this weekend is expected to cause some traffic delays.
The New York State Thruway Authority announced the bridge from Niagara Falls to Grand Island will close beginning at 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday, December 3.
During the closure, all southbound traffic on I-190 will be shifted to a single lane on the northbound bridge.
Contractors will be grinding the road surface to make things safer for drivers during the winter weather.
There will also be lane closures on both sides of the bridge starting Friday at 8pm as work gets started.
Drivers should expect delays and are being encouraged to use alternative routes.
