BUFFALO, N.Y. — The last month of meteorological summer is here.

August is a month that can feature summer warmth, tropical rains and even some of the first fall-like breezes toward the end of the month.

What has the weather historically been for WNY during August?

The average high temperature on August 1st is 80°, and by the end of the month the average high as 76°. So there is not a tremendous amount of change.

Last year was a very warm August but not as warm as the August of 2016, which went down as the warmest August on record in Buffalo.

In terms of rainfall, Buffalo can expect on average 3.26" of rain. The last two  Augusts have been pretty close to average, but the two before that were quite wet.

This August looks to start with temperatures close to average and by the second week of the month temperatures may actually dip below average. Periodic rains are expected also for the first half of the month.
