BUFFALO, NY - An annual Buffalo tradition was held along the streets of the Old First Ward on Saturday. The "Old Neighborhood" St. Patrick's Day parade was held, running along a slightly different route than in years past.
This year's grand marshal was 85-year-old Henry "Corky" Connors, born and raised in the Old First Ward.
“This is truly about heritage,” said Peg Overdorf of the Valley Community Association. “This is what people come back to their roots. And we have generations of people. Many people came from these great, old neighborhoods, they were different parishes. These people that are coming back today celebrating grandparents, great grandparent,s that came here when they settled to America."
Police reported no major incidents at the parade. There were no arrests and just about 40 tickets issued for open containers.
